25 Years of Toxicity: A System of a Down Anniversary Tribute

Friday, Sept. 4 marks exactly 25 years since System of a Down released Toxicity, and four Hawai‘i musicians have come together as the Komboocha Mushroom Band to perform the album live in its entirety at The Republik.

They’re all longtime SOAD fans with great stories about how the band influenced them — including an elementary school music teacher who says discovering SOAD inspired him to teach himself electric guitar, and a vocalist who works in education at Hawai‘i Opera Theatre and credits his operatic training with helping him tackle Serj Tankian’s vocals.
